The owners of this Playa Vista property, a 25,000 square foot tilt-up concrete warehouse built in 1969, asked FoundationAC to do a quick conceptual design study to explore exterior and interior improvements, as part of its creative office conversion. The owners’ goal was do a low cost makeover that would appeal to a creative office market.
Our solution was to keep the exterior alterations simple, while adding visual interest and a dramatic focal point at the new entryway. The proposed conceptual design shows the covering of the tilt-up concrete panels with insulated metal standing-seam panels (adding texture via shadow patterns, and increasing energy efficiency), juxtaposed with a new dramatic entryway which extends outward to connect the new exterior patio with a reception/lounge space.
